Pros

Pay isn’t terrible, but doesn’t make up for the insane work hours.

Cons

Management bullies anyone they don’t like, training is lackluster at best, completely incompetent at worst.

Pros

Decent pay for entry level clinicians.

Cons

Shame-based and fear-based leadership. At best, passive aggressive emails from supervisors. At worst, senior staff humiliating and gaslighting young clinicians by airing personal issues publicly, referencing those personal issues when clients struggle and blaming overworked, burnt out clinicians and counselors for deeper, systemic dysfunction. In other words, telling clinicians they’re, “chasing behaviors rather than providing therapy,” which is inevitable when houses are understaffed and clients are too acute for the setting. No training, no emergency protocols, inconsistent supervision. Constant crisis intervention and management. No breaks, no compensation for overtime, no end to emails or work hours, very little time off or sick time and too few relief staff to cover open shifts. Very little time to realistically provide individual therapy to clients: predominantly high risk babysitting. Ratio of clients to staff often exceeded 8:1. Vast majority of clients were not engaged in treatment, were miserable, felt the structure was more punitive than empowering and regularly became threatening and aggressive toward staff. I did not observe improvement or healing in any clients while employed at TWC.
