Good Concept. Bad Management

Pros

Coworkers are interesting and motivated. You really do get to meet some interesting people. Unfortunately, many of the Sr. Managers are not these people.

Cons

Several of the Sr. Managers are rude, condescending, unprofessional and just terrible at managing. It makes for a hostile and uncomfortable environment

Not sure whether the stress was worth the gains. It could have been made easier. The management is very negative.

Good intro to consulting for biomed PhDs, difficult work environment/culture

Fantastic (and rare) opportunity for grad students and postdocs to gain exposure to consulting.

Cons

Management can be extremely unpleasant to work with, which can crush morale. I (and other team members) actually started to dread weekly meetings and started to wonder if it was worth our time. Also, if you work in a demanding lab for your full time work, then the time commitment for Solution Lab can be a little trying.
