Pros

This place has the potential to do a lot of good. Pay is average for the location (but too low for the demands of the job). Benefits are below average. Front line staff tend to band together and work well as a team.

Cons

This is a for profit hospital offering help...but mostly profiting. If they would limit group sizes and staff appropriately this would be a great place. Unfortunately group sizes often exceed 20-30 patients with a staff ratio of 1 to 20 on avg. Its chaotic and often dangerous on the unit. I can't see how this is more helpful than traumatic for the patients. Staff do not have the resources they need to do their jobs (still using paper records and VHS?). Suggestions for change are rarely implemented, and blamed on "this is what its like working in a hospital setting." Unfortunately instead of embracing and encouraging positive change this shrugged shoulders mentality from upper management affects the overall hospital culture and is often passed down to the patients.

Pros

If you like working with people and the public there's plenty of opportunities for such encounters at the Ridge.

Cons

Dishonesty and manipulation amongst management and Admin is endemic - SOP and Business As Usual. There is little to no care or thought given to the general morale and well-being of the frontline staff. Dangerous understaffing is the norm. Employees are treated like tools or equipment; and when you complain - your integrity is questioned. As a result of all this, the staff turnover rate is astronomical. It will be quite interesting when the Feds, the State and the insurance companies get interested in what really happens to their money at the Ridge.

Pros

My coworkers were friendly and really cared about their jobs.

Cons

I followed proper exit protocol by leaving a two weeks notice. I was informed the next day that I would not be allowed to continue working there. I couldn't afford a lapse in pay, but they didn't care. "No hard feelings," and "You're eligible for re-hire" were the only words out of their mouths. No solidarity with the situation they put me in financially. Nursing is grossly understaffed and underappreciated. Patient care is greatly affected by this, and there doesn't seem to be any push forward.
