Pros

-You get to interact with students and encourage them to fulfil their utmost potential. -Some colleagues are genuinely inspiring and challenge you to push harder to better yourself. Sadly, they often get disgruntled and leave. -The salary is stable. -An awesome library. -Sports facilities.

Cons

-The institution has forgotten that its focus is on education. Pedagogy has taken a back seat to facilities, bureaucracy, outreach, man-hours. -Top heavy. Too many talkers, too little doers. -Management have zero vision and are spineless and archaic. They pay lip service to innovation and change but it's all paper. -Opaque HR policies and management. -Ancient administrators and paper pushers run the place. Education is often an afterthought. -Management do not bother to listen to the ground (staff and students), they pretend to. -Teachers and students are not valued.

Pros

Stable and comfortable for most people Nice campus, working environment - just next to the scenic Bedok Reservoir Predictable workload - given almost everything runs based on the yearly academic calendar Work-Life Balance (depends on who your boss is, and which department you work in)

Cons

Very centralized decision making, usually based on the Principal. I believe the new Principal has a more autonomous approach so things could be better now (since mid 2016). Unexciting - tends to take the "safe" or "proven" route (follow what we did before-approach) "Do-things-right" over the "Do-the-right-thing" culture Progression and promotions are non-existent for most, and slow for others (even the hi-po talent takes forever to get to something like Section Head or Manager)
