Fair salary Great benefits and pension Strong volunteering community
Cons
Management is very unsupportive as they themselves lack the experience to be in their roles. This is due to the corporate directive to rotate management through several roles in different areas of the business in order to move up the ladder. The company rewards individual goals above team goals, so employees are made to compete for their jobs against each other. This leads to employees teaming up against a weaker employee to get them fired thereby protecting their own roles. It is very much an "old boys" club where innovation and change are discouraged. If you are lucky enough to work in a department that has gone through the changes to non-traditional leadership, you could find yourself out if you yourself do not fit the category/race/gender of the new leader/region.

Pros
Great salary, benefits, and people
Cons
Slow, bureaucratic, kind of old fashioned
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good benefits. Co-workers are supportive.
Cons
Lots to list. All the normal garage of a typical large public corporation and then some. Lots of lip service to never ending initiatives that add no value and waste everyone's time. Career progression process and expectations are opaque AF, and no actual helpful feedback from about the 10 different managers (due to the never ending org changes) in about 9 years (no joke). Could go on and on... and on and on.

Reactive and confused about the future
Mar 2, 2023 - Manager in Calgary, ABRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Reasonable compensation, DB pension, excellent benefits with particularly good mental wellness focus. Decent leadership at middle manager level.
Cons
Company is obsessed with DEI virtue signalling and image management. Incoherent strategy and reactive responses from the senior leadership group make getting anything done long-term a lot more challenging than it should need to be. Not keeping up with inflation, gradually eating away at benefits, pay. If you are male, opportunities to progress may be somewhat limited.
