I worked at TC Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people you work with at TransCanada are generally nice people. I also have a lot of trust in the executive leadership.

    Cons

TransCanada is known as the "retirement home" across the industry. This is not a good place for young professionals. The complacent middle management regularly suppresses young ideas and promotions are based on seniority. Young people are constantly leaving this company for the above reasons. If you are happy to sit around and wait for retirement, this could be a good place for you. If you are ambitious and want... to get things done, look elsewhere, TransCanada will wear you out.

    Advice to Management

The way young people are supported needs to be changed. When the older incumbents at TransCanada eventually retire, the Company will be in a very bad position because good young talent constantly leaves the company.

I worked at TC Energy full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits, as a FT employee you get vacation days, 12,flex days and most holidays off.

    Cons

Micro managers, once a manager is starting to understand their team &/or dept. They are moved to another business unit. Very little diversity. HR is a completely useless dept for employees.

    Advice to Management

Listen to people on your team, people who have history in the company and stop thinking you know it all.

I worked at TC Energy full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Decent salary - Nice people - Coworkers generally easy to deal with.

    Cons

    - Too much emphasis on promoting women. Men have limited opportunities at this company unless you know someone. - Nepotism throughout the ranks which leads to a lot of incompetence. They are lucky they are able to cover it up due to their regulated business model however shippers suffer due to their general incompetence. - Nowhere is the incompetence more clear than at the management and leadership level.

    Advice to Management

Promote based on abilities not genitalia or relationships.
