Pros

Fast pace of work. You gain good experience in the field is a relatively short period of time. A lot of good people work in the officer positions. Training is pretty decent.

Cons

Poor leadership. Policies restrict officers from doing their jobs, no appetite for change, not lateral friendly.

Mid sized department

Business outlook

Pros

Decent pay for the area. Decent working conditions in general. Multiple specialized assignments are available.

Cons

The department is increasingly influenced by the political leanings of the city leaders. Officers are concerned that the department will not back them if anything perceived as negative hits the media. Officers are currently concerned about the city discriminating against them by targeting some employees (not all) by requiring them to wear masks. Officers are currently concerned about the city requiring vaccines of employees. Department is short staffed with no quick resolution in sight.
