Pros

- Smart people - Decent impact - Ability to work remotely between xmas and New Years - Office is empty by 6pm - Popsugar is a decent name to have on your resume - If you like high fashion, that's a plus

Cons

- Revenue is going in the wrong direction (not fun to see management freak out) - 25% of company has gotten laid off or left in last 6 months - There is no transparency. There were multiple rounds of layoffs and management wouldn't say what was happening. This led to rumors galore. Also, when employees leave, there is a culture of being secretive about what new company they are joining. It's weird that everyone is so afraid to announce where they are going. - Absolute chaos - Every day is a fire drill. The founder is the biggest culprit. He pulls engineers from what they were working on to work on pet projects. - No process, so the loudest voice gets what they want - Culture - They did a survey about employee satisfaction and it wasn't pretty - It doesn't seem like the company really cares about employees. - Designers get chewed up and spit out

I am sorry that your experience with us was not ideal, but there are aspects to your review that are factually incorrect and/or in violation of the confidentiality agreement you signed when you started with us. As a private company, we do not discuss revenue publicly. It is not true that "25% of company has gotten laid off or left in the last 6 months" nor is it true that the results of our culture survey weren't "pretty". We certainly care about our employees and believe that we demonstrate this in many ways every single day. We are constantly working to improve transparency and processes.

Pros

The people for the most part are great and I sincerely like them all on a personal level.

Cons

Complete disfunction at the executive management level. People on ShopStyle are generally disgruntled and/or planning on leaving now or as soon as they can. Horrendous misallocation of engineering resources. No concept of rapid employment with respect to product development and validation before dedicating tons of resources to building something customers don't want. In general a lack of customer focus. Everyone is underpaid relative to the market unless you were a founder or came to the company through acquisition.
