Pros

The pay is sort of decent

Cons

Sentient is the type of company that micro manage. You have daily responsibility a that one must achieve daily with limit resources. They place managers in place that have little to no experience. Employees are not appreciated. It's a 6 month probabtionary period and they expect you not to take off at all. If you misses a day, you can barely make up your time. Management does not like hearing suggestions or implementing change for the better. It's a very depressing environment. Managers Are all friends from previous employment.. Whatever you discuss with HR, it's not held confidential. It's is discuss with other managers.. They are in cahoots with each other.

It's unfortunate and we're incredibly apologetic you had a less than pleasurable experience while working at Sentient. Our goal as a company is to not only hire individuals we feel have the potential for advancement, but we tend to promote from within by leveraging our current talent any given opportunity we have. All of our employees certainly are provided with the resources needed to complete their role satisfactorily. To clarify, we have a 90 day probationary period (not 6 months), where we ask that candidates do not use any PTO. However, if a candidate starts the company and lets management know ahead of time regarding planned time off, etc - we will absolutely accommodate it. Additionally, our HR team is incredibly professional, and all employee relation matters are kept strictly confidential. Again, we are sorry to hear you had a less than pleasurable experience while employed here. We wish you much success in your future endeavors.

Pros

I have been with Sentient for a little over a year now. I was hired in as a trainee candidate with no previous IOM experience, but did have a health sciences-related degree. The transition was quite smooth for me, and everything I have experiences so far is exactly what I signed up for. The management team was very insightful during the interviews -- explaining both the positives and negatives of the job. I will say the unpredictability of the hours (because we are working in an OR-setting) was probably the hardest transition, but they certainly made it clear that this was the expectation and norm prior to being hired. Pros from what I've experienced/seen so far: - Salary/Compensation - I interviewed with several IOM companies and was made offers by 2 others, and Sentient's starting salary was higher - Mgmt tends to promote from within, so I feel like I have room to grow into advanced roles like management - Opportunity to earn extra money by working overtime - They reimbursed me and gave a raise for passing the CNIM

Cons

Unpredictability of the OR, but to be expected in the field. However, I knew this going in and this is what I signed up for. Other than that, I'm pretty happy.

Pros

The job itself isn't bad. It's the management that is awful.

Cons

Long hours, low pay, reduced benefits. Not keeping promises. Need I say more?

All new hires coming into an IONM role are certainly explained the "grueling" hours (unpredictable is what we like to say) associated with working in the OR, as any OR schedule is incredibly unpredictable and case times vary regularly. Our pay is incredibly competitive for the industry, and in fact, our starting salaries are much higher than the majority of our competition. Thanks for the feedback, and we wish you much success.
