I have been working at Security Benefit Group full-time

    Pros

I enjoy what I do. Solid pay/benefits, especially for the area.

    Cons

Not a lot of room to move up. Prefers to hire outside of the company.

    Advice to Management

You have really good people working for you that want to grow with you. Help them do that or risk losing them to better opportunities.

I worked at Security Benefit Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Technical rating is a 4.5 (see cons as to why it's not a full 5). Compensation, benefits, PTO, bonuses, team felt like family, opportunities to advance, company sponsored family events and parties, provided an overall good work-life balance

    Cons

Mandatory OT especially during tax season but it's a part of the business so must be flexible for OT needs.

    Advice to Management

Overall, management does a great job with communication and running day to day activities. There were some issues with being under staffed which created more mandatory OT to ensure work gets processed in timely manner.

    Pros

My team I worked on was great. We were there so many hours during the week with overtime that we became like family.

    Cons

No room to really grow and move up.

I have been working at Security Benefit Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They treat their employees like family. They are always making sure they think of the employee in business decisions. They have track record to prove it.

    Cons

The parking is not that great.

    Advice to Management

Boast about the company more in public. This company does so much community support and involvement but does not get recognized on media markets like other people do.

I worked at Security Benefit Group full-time

    Pros

Some nice midwestern people to work with

    Cons

Everything is top secret, need to know basis. The culture is the opposite of Ray Dalio's idea meritocracy. It's a dictatorship of 'just shut up and do what I tell you to do.'

    Advice to Management

When your people fail, realize that it rolls uphill and you have failed too. If you must punish them, also punish yourself. Start driving on a two way street and get more mirrors in your own house.
