Pros

- Most of the staffs are friendly and encouraging, although you still get the odd people who are downright rude and unhelpful if they decide they don't like you. - Occasionally the company will treat staffs to food within the office - mostly fast food. - Good learning platform if you like to learn and experience multiple roles at once. - Very fast paced environment, there's always new things to learn and do. - Okay working amenities, depending on your position and luck, you'll get an okay laptop and a monitor. But otherwise it's Bring Your Own Device policy. The company encourages you to buy your own device with a 25% subsidy and a 12-24 month loan (deducted from your salary every month), to be paid before you leave the company. - Somewhat transparent company objectives and achievements, there's a town hall once a month or when the CEO has some announcements to make. - The management gives you the opportunity to try out your ideas if you present them well enough. - Good location, there's an RM100 travel/parking allowance for everyone. - Lots of cheap food options around the office. - Good project and task management system, they use JIRA to track all your ongoing and completed tasks. - There's a quarterly budget for company outing, although if nobody suggest or plan anything, the management and HR won't bother with outings. - The company is moving fast and has potential to achieve great heights.

Cons

- There is zero culture, staffs are often given too many tasks to complete in a short period of time (you get a lot of short notice tasks that need to be completed immediately too) that few people have time to socialize or participate in things. - Workload per person is crazy, the management expects you to come early and stay late to finish your tasks. - The working environment is cramped, stressful and lack any form of motivation. - The management either don't care about you or bullies you verbally and publicly when you make a mistake. Abusive language is the norm there, and your mistakes are laid out for everyone to see. - The management and HR tends to micromanage you, and if the HR doesn't like you, good luck trying to build a career there. - Too many office politics, the HR controls everything. The higher management leave most office decisions to the HR even though HR is unfriendly and virtually unapproachable if you're not on good terms with them. There's no human empathy in the HR. Many people has been dismissed due to 'the management's decision'. - Even if you decide to quit, they don't care because HR gets commission every time they hire new staffs, so more for the HR. - There's no support from the higher management, they don't really get involved in office matters unless it concerns leads. The C level management don't even talk to staffs unless at town hall or about work. - Most major campaigns are decided at the last minutes, it's considered normal for people to work late into the AM to catch up with workload. If you complain, the management will just say that they too work late and burn the midnight oil. - There's zero work life balance there, and people get sick a lot. Fever and flu bugs are spread around the entire office on an almost consistent basis. - Lost faith after staffs were forced to give good reviews on the company on Glassdoor and Facebook. - The management will promise you many things to keep you there - promises of a raise, promotion and whatever, but during your performance review all of a sudden they decide that you either didn't perform or you haven't done anything 'extraordinary' to justify a raise/promotion. - There's no working flexibility. They may be a start up but it's almost like they're trying to be a corporate company. Staffs are reprimanded if they come late, and they don't care if you stay at work late. - Favoritism is obvious. If you're in the management's circle, you can get away with anything. No use pointing it out to the HR either, as they will defend their favorites. - There's very few company events or staff appreciation. They won't be bothered with throwing dinners and company events even for Christmas, Raya etc unless for farewell parties when their favorites leave.

Pros

1. The engineering team is smart and capable. 2. Great salary. 3. The company has amazing growth potential.

Cons

1. Management openly insults and bullies people. There is frequent use of inappropriate language. 2. The office is not suitable for productive work. It's quite noisy and uncomfortable. 3. Unprofessional and rude HR and admin staff. It's frustrating dealing with them and makes for an unpleasant experience working at this company. 4. Company does not provide computers for software developers. They have "bring your own device" policy. Alternatively, you can buy a new computer through the company (at a 25% discount + loan over 12 months), but you can only do that after confirmation (there's a 3 month probation period). You only find out about this after you have signed the contract. 5. Work is highly unorganized which affects productivity. Managers expect employees to compensate by putting in long hours. 6. Taking medical leave during the probation period (first 3 months) is frowned upon. For expats, if they have to travel out of country for treatment, the company doesn't allow them to use their medical / hospitalization leave, so they have to take unpaid leave. Apparently, the medical and hospitalization leave is only applicable for treatment inside Malaysia. You cannot even use your paid-time-off in such a case.

Career Progression is Possible But Be Careful of the Invisible Politics

Pros

- Supportive management - Negotiable work hours - Freedom to present ideas and move forward with it - Personal day benefit

Cons

-It starts with a V and ends with a particular number. If you work here long enough, you'll know what it is - New people trying to come up with new initiatives without taking into consideration the existing team or other people's existing KPI. It's common sense to let people know what you are planning to do and the rationale behind that action if you want to get them on board - You can opt to stay out of the drama but don't be surprised if you end up being the gossip fodder for others. It's weird, you can try to work your best but it's pointless when the rumour mill starts churning. Justifying is seen as excuse-making so tread with care.
