Pros

Nice downtown office, the employee's in the Toronto are friendly and the office tries to foster a positive culture/experience. Depending on department, trips to HQ in zurich & elsewhere are very nice.

Cons

Management is poor and bottlenecked at the top. Operates like a small company and not an international, multi-jurisdictional firm. Pay is incredibly low and uncompetitive and management is loathe to give pay rises. Counterparts in Zurich make SIGNIFICANTLY more, even when considering cost of living (which is rapidly changing in Toronto). No real growth opportunities in the Toronto office, as majority of senior/management positions are in Switzerland.

Pros

Laid back work culture with a focus on consensus building above everything else.

Cons

Disconnect bordering on distrust between core senior leadership based at head office and middle management based in branch offices. In Account Management bonus is indeed discretionary and as a hard rule is overpromised and underdelivered.

Pros

Mostly laid back atmosphere and friendly people If social responsibility is important to you, there are worse places. (but then you realize you're just reflecting the bias of the media)

Cons

They're drowning in technical debt and legacy code with no realistic timeline to fix it A culture of doing the easy thing instead of the right thing, and a fear of breaking things causing inertia. The technology sounds decent on paper but in reality lacks ambition. They're far from the state of the art in every category.

RepRisk AG Response
4y
I am sorry that you had such a negative experience with us. As the Head of Engineering at RepRisk, I've had a completely opposite experience. I have been with the company since 2015 and have worked in different positions, starting as a developer, and have worked in almost every project, including the legacy code. I have seen how RepRisk grew and reached its current form and size and I can say that the technology transformation the company underwent in just a few years is amazing. Related to technical debts and legacy code – the majority of the work has been done and I am confident that we are close to fully addressing it. I’m surprised that you say “A culture of doing the easy thing instead of the right thing,” because I think this does not reflect our culture at all. Last but not least, I am proud of the technologies we work on and the people we work with.
