I have been working at RAPID RTC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people I worked with were pretty awesome

    Cons

Where to start? The management is completely toxic at Rapid Rtc. If you get caught on your phone, better watch out. You'll be pulled into a room and given a strict talking to about how you're on company time and you shouldn't be texting your wife. They say they're agile, but they actually use what's called "safe" agile which is this horrible framework that's waterfall, but pretends like it's agile. You go into these huge, useless meetings quarterly and plan out the next 3 months of work. But guess what? That's not how agile works, so what ends up actually happening is the plan goes to crap, we scrap the entire thing only to go into another meeting, wasting everyone's time again to come up with another plan with no ability to pivot whatsoever. Innovation here is a complete joke. You're working with ancient code bases that have horrible practices and absolutely no standards. You'll see things work one way in one section of an application, then you look at another section and since someone else wrote it, it works completely differently. Production issues slip by all the time because of these awful practices, and while peer reviewing is done, it's almost always just a "yeah that looks fine" and gets the rubber stamp of approval. The QA here is like nothing I've ever seen before. They will spend months on regression testing their application, only to let bugs get through anyways. The tooling they use for their QA is completely off base, thought up by someone who clearly was put into a leadership position but shouldn't be. Only recently have they realized the value in automated testing, something that should have been done many years ago. The deployment process will make you want to rip your hair out. The tooling used for the deployment process is inadequate at best, leaving you working until 4am on deployment nights. The performance reviews are basically digging for information they can use against you, pitting everyone against each other in this 80's management style. The best part is that the leadership of this company will get up in front of everyone, tell you that things are absolutely amazing, we are making record profits, you guys are doing such a great job! Then, two weeks into a global pandemic they lay off 35% of their company. The daughters of the company manage to keep their jobs, but screw the people who bust their butts off for the company. STAY AWAY. I regret the second I moved to rapid rtc. They will tell you that the culture has changed here, that they used to be a bad company, but now they're all better! They will put good people like Brittany and Mike in front of you to make it seem like the company is better, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!!

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at RAPID RTC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Solid and interesting products that actually work compared to competition, growing subscription business including overseas. Great down to earth people for the most part including most management, although a few gun slingers have come onboard now and then, usually they move on. Very open to change, try different org structures, architectural patterns, tech, etc. Great location. Family focused, community involvement, flexible for vacation and personal needs as long as put in the needed hours, trust is given by default.

    Cons

There are many areas in the company at this point, the culture and employee experience is not uniform from area to area, especially looking at some reviews here - the product delivery side historically more actively managed/better treated than some other areas, lower turnover. Company has evolved from rocky and stressful startup mode to a more mature org, less overtime in general, more process- some disgruntled employees from the more distant past especially before professional management as well as some low performers that are bitter can give company a bad name. Not really a millenial's dream, can have a bit of a corporate feel - suits, meetings, no beer or any dot com gizmos although there are very elaborate quarterly events, team building budget and the Xmas party that are definitely far and beyond. Strong focus on agile methodology, some good some bad, decision making process not optimized at times - sometimes theoretical sometimes sourced from insufficiently experienced or non-practitioner members, often enough with senior decision makers self validating without enough reflection / metrics before and after. Some things work out, some don't.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at RAPID RTC full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There was a lot of flexibility with the schedule, friendly staff, great workspace.

    Cons

Mostly university students were prioritized before full-time people, basic customer service job, consistently busy workload (need to be a fast typer), most times understaffed for the workload requested.

I worked at RAPID RTC full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Hard working people/team that are willing to help you on your tasks.

    Cons

Management are not in touch w/ their subordinates. Salary is way too low in terms of the IT standards. Everyone here is force to donate to the company's charity. Lots of work during my stay here...

I worked at RAPID RTC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice location and parking, not much else.

    Cons

No direction, too big for itself to manage anymore. “If they truly succeeded, they’d fail’ They went on a purge from 2014-2017 and lost a lot of good dedicated staff, they’ve never recovered from that loss. Staff directed to post nice things on GlassDoor or risk be fired. Oh, from personal experience, not inclusive, if you’re not in the same church as the owner or LGBT you’ll never get anywhere here.

I worked at RAPID RTC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

There is literally no pros here to comments.

    Cons

BEWARE AND STAY AWAY FROM RAPID RTC... They make you feel welcome and part of the team, encourage you to speak out etc but when you do, then you are in trouble. The employees are asked to submit reviews here on Glassdoor, and pressure you to give them a 5* and write good comments. Lots of bias from the executive level. If you are family with the owner, then you are promoted but if you are not, then you are a slave. They also run this charity crap, if you don't contribute then you are fired. Supposedly this charity is very close to the owner to help kids, which he claims for his tax and people just applaud of his fake goodness, he just wants his picture on a piece of newspaper, get a 2 min fame and feels good about himself.

I have been working at RAPID RTC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is certainly a better employer than what it was in the past. Still, build a reputation takes time but I think management is doing good things to turn things around. Many of the things that were criticized (and rightfully so) when the company was in its infancy (like excessive pressure to deliver, over-committing to make sales) have been addressed and I have seen over the years how the company has matured.

    Cons

Rapid RTC is fast-paced, feels like a startup sometimes... you can feel some pressure to get the work done. That's not necessarily bad, but is good to know beforehand. Personally, I would like to see a more stable workforce, but in all fairness, in IT these days that is extremely hard to achieve.
