      Pros

      Cool building. Too bad everyone has to sit in a highly toxic co working space.

      Cons

      The fault stems from the very top. Mr. Wilcox goes above and beyond to promise clients more than he can deliver (and way more than he pays his staff to produce), champions a VERY toxic work environment/culture and thinks he isn't held to legal ramifications— just to name a few.

Primitive Social is a unique place to work in West Texas it has the talent, passion, and desire to be great and compete on a stage greater than West Texas. It is these standards that make it both a challenging place to work but also a rewarding place. Primitive Social is not for everyone and the people that remain employed here are some of the very best. They treat each other with respect and what may have been toxic for one person is a thriving community of super talented people that work in a new open floor workspace where collaboration and accountability push us to aspire for greatness. They are friends, they enjoy serving each other and our clients. With an unlimited vacation policy, work from home days, a weekly stocked kitchen, company lunches and a great team we have to disagree with the reference to “toxic environment” unless referring to the junk food in the pantry. Our CEO is a young energetic visionary and by no means perfect but I think those in the community know him as honest, trustworthy and certainly respectful of not only the industry we love but our clients and their business goals. Primitive Social is striving for excellence and we are still looking for great talent.

      Dangerous for Creatives

      Constantly changing and evolving environment

      During my 2 years there, I saw a large number of young creatives come and go. It's an environment that judges performance based on appearance, political beliefs, and religion. The last 9 months have especially been terrible with most tenured employees with 2 or more years of experience either leaving suddenly or being replaced by cheaper less-experienced new hires. For a Lubbock business that prides itself with being a fixture of downtown, they prefer to hire remote employees. Profit is more important than people or their product. They are the marketing equivalent of snake-oil peddlers. Avoid this sinking ship, if you can.
