Pros
Amazing benefits, very smart co-workers, full of people who want to change the world for good.
Cons
Can be a hard environment for people of color. Some senior management have been there too long. The internal politics can be a big challenge.

Benefits are excellent, everything else is OK
Sep. 10, 2021 - Accounts Payable Specialist in Los Altos, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits are great. 401k, health, dental, PTO etc. all higher than average.
Cons
Packard only hires the best, so you will be bored and over qualified for your job. But the benefits are great.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Good benefits Beautiful building Flexible work schedule depending on department Prestigious name that can be useful in career advancement
Cons
Lots of money being given out to smaller orgs that are scrambling to make sure they live up to Packard standards. Employees rarely speak up and can't critique or suggest anything against the status quo. DEI is a joke to make the white people, who commit microaggressions in the office daily, feel better about themselves. They dominate every conversation and speak just because they can and are validated by those in charge. No accountability when select people don't perform or are not present - trying to hard to be nice and different from other industries which just further perpetuates the hierarchical system in the company. Really hard to advance or work your way up unless you have multiple degrees or graduated from an Ivy League - basically eliminating a majority of the people from the communities they serve. Lots of performative people in this organization, very uncomfortable place for POC to work.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great place to work with amazing staff committed to the mission of the organization.
Cons
The location is a pain to get to from the East Bay

- incredible values - passionate field experts - great benefits
Cons
- no room for growth - static hierarchy
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
- The employees here are smart and talented. - Great benefits. - The office space is quite impressive.
Cons
- This is an extremely flat organization (which is pretty standard in philanthropy). There is not really a great career trajectory here if you are trying to move up. - Job titles are not reflective of the work and are not consistent across the company. A Program Associate in one department might be doing all admin work, while another Program Associate in another department might be in more of a researcher or analyst role. It depends on the department.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
While I work in one of the services departments, I feel privileged to belong to an organization that does so much for the world. It seems as though the Foundation really cares for its employees. The pay is competitive among other companies and foundations in the Bay Area. The building and office space is lovely and modern. Plus, there are many perks, from free drinks to great benefits.
Cons
There may not be the room for growth as it is a small foundation with little turnover.
