Pros

The number one reason to work here are the people. The relationships you create with coworkers here makes it worth coming to work everyday. I met so many great individuals during my time spent at OE. This is also a decent company to work for if you are looking to start in the tech world but have no prior experience.

Cons

First, many of the recent good reviews on this page are fake. If the only cons are either “nothing” or “I want to know about the company goals,” those should be red flags. Many members of leadership across all departments are inexperienced at best, and incompetent at worst. The product is always broken, and our customers really don't like us, which makes account management and customer success more difficult than it should be. They encourage the sales team to stretch the truth, which causes a lot of the customers to get frustrated and cancel. The goals they set across departments are unrealistic, and the goals and quotas many employees have to hit require 10-12 hours of work a day. Overall, they have made too many careless mistakes in the past and are trying to do everything they can to get acquired, which seems to be leading to low morale and layoffs.

Pros

You can wear shorts to work. If you like loud rap music and F Bombs being dropped by management, this place is for you!

Cons

Poor middle management and outdated sales methods. Scripts!? Seriously?? High turnover - 1 out of every 10 that start each month actually stay. Training should be given by qualified and knowledgeable professionals in the the sales field, not any one who has closed a deal with this company. No work/life balance - hours are 8-5 Monday-Friday and are paid as such, but middle management "suggests" you work 7-6 and Saturdays. 150 calls a day is the minimum

Great colleagues but deeply disappointing leadership

Pros

Passionate colleagues and that's about it - I'd say the downtown location but that's no longer the case.

Cons

I had such high hopes when I started working here. I truly believed the pitch that OutboundEngine helped small businesses and we were a tool they could use to further their American Dream. I could not believe how wrong I was. The product is TERRIBLE. Not through the fault of the developers or engineers - there was just ZERO investment. There was just no way to improve the product when the only features released to customers were MVP (Minimum Viable Product, which I've always found ironic). To make up for this, salespeople often lied to customers to meet targets (again - not their fault - the targets are insane and salespeople were often fired left and right) with customer support left to clean up the mess. It's too bad because the majority of people who work there are truly passionate about helping small businesses succeed. Where things go wrong is leadership. The CEO, Marc Pickren, is an absolute LUNATIC. He's a bully who is unable to compromise, a sexist who actively favors men over women (not once was the Employee of the Month a woman when I worked there), and his temper tantrums are matched only by the most savage of toddlers. Not to mention the WILD business decisions (including television advertisements starring himself, and laying people off days before Christmas). I'd be very surprised if this company lasts under his leadership. Like many startups these days, a great idea and great people are run into the ground by inept and hostile leadership. It's truly a shame.
