I worked at Opera Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very high caliber professional services team Interesting and challenging projects

    Cons

Poor senior management team Has wasted hundreds of millions of dollars in repositioning company into a solutions SaaS company rather than its legacy consulting business - largely unsuccessfully. Now has too much focus upon scalability and replicability In projects rather than adopting a bespoke business problem and solutioning approach - all problems are addressed as analytical challenges addressed through... the Signal Hub platform, when this should actually share and inform strategy rather than being the solution itself.

I have been working at Opera Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great coworkers, fun and challenging work

    Cons

Don't know where to begin. Don't bully employees, don't spy on employees, match 401k, keep your word, stop firing or running off everyone. In short, get good at running a company.

    Advice to Management

Stop bullying and threatening, stop laying off (firing) everyone who have been loyal employees for years without severance or notice, start treating your employees well, stop spying on employees, start keeping your word

    Pros

If you like to take way too much risk in your life, this is the place. Layoffs happen every now and then. If you survive the day, you will feel like you have achieved something in the day. You would like to challenge yourself every other day to be with the company and survive. you built these competencies!

    Cons

Layoffs happen every now and then

I worked at Opera Solutions full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Many when I started, none when I left

    Cons

Circa 2014, the ownership and top management in their infinite wisdom tried to force fit a Technology Product model into what was a fledgling Analytics Services company with remnants of a (rather successful) management consulting business. That's when the trouble started. There were arbitrary changes and inane business decisions that failed to recognize the core strengths and went all out trying to sell an... unmarketable and non-viable product which no one wanted. There was no regard for employees and hiring and firing decisions started to be made based on personal preferences of those on the top. Then the inevitable happened when the company failed to live up to investors' expectations and was taken over by the creditors. The new brass is trying hard to paint a rosy picture despite a huge (and expected) wave of lay offs, but to the wise it is crystal clear that the company has no future. Period.

    Advice to Management

The company is beyond repair. You have taken over the reigns to recover what was owed to you. Do your thing and wind down asap. Do not spoil more careers by selling pipe dreams.
