Pros
Good basic Training. Good pay from the beginning. Variety of differ at skills can be learnt on the job. Great Pension.
Cons
Although basic training is good, no actual training relating to your job role is provided I.e how to dig which is 90% of your job. A lot of politics and favouritism involved. Career progression within civils is tough, due to it being a smaller workforce in comparison to other engineering departments. Career progression can be hindered due to favouritism as it’s not about what you know, but who you know. Senior managers and supervisors not carrying out there roles and assisting colleagues in there day to roles.
