No reviews, advancement or raises - watch your back

Pros

They care about you in the beginning.

Cons

Executives better like you because they will find a reason to terminate you if they don't! Don't give notice or they will let you go early. Don't gossip because they try to earn your trust but will repeat everything behind your back. Internal "personal" relationships can take you far fast.

Pros

The non management employees can be pleasant to work with. Manufacturing lets you see a physical result of your work. Company events can be fun.

Cons

Everyone for themselves mentality among most departments, each departments blames the next. Management will lie to your face and actively work to see departments silo themselves off instead of collaborating. Bro-code culture, etc. Step on the toes of a VP, Director, or the Chief of staff and you won't be there long(they will literally berate you in front of your coworkers). If you manage a rare pay raise without a position change, it will paint a target on your back.

Avoid them, if you intend to make a meaningful career.

Pros

It's good that they have an in-house manufacturing setup alongside the other functions of the company. They value and understand limitations and opportunities of manufacturing sheet metal furniture.

Cons

There is no mission or vision statement. It's an absolute joke. Just manufacturing lab furniture or any furniture for that matter without any sense of direction or purpose is useless. Neither the head of the company (who is also the owner of the company) nor the dozen VPs can tell why the company exists. There are barely 50 employees and they need like a dozen VPs which barely makes any sense. All their goals are towards making an extra million or more year on year. How is that supposed to inspire anyone to create anything meaningful? Can't trust anyone's word here, got to work like there is always a target on your back. Each employee only looks after themselves, for the fear of being fired. All those company outings that the owner takes the employees on is simply a false facade of being a tight knit team, to him every employee is expendable. They couldn't care less if you are human enough to commit mistakes. They'll hire and fire people every few weeks, they lack any retention. They are good at exploiting employees and ruining their lives. If the employees would collectively voice their concerns, one could easily pull them to court on class-action lawsuits for the way they exploit employees and fire them. It's hilarious that they somehow feel that they are invincible for the market they serve. They really are a small speck in a room full of competition. There is simply no innovation for them to stand out. It's just another over-worked manufacturing shop that makes lab furniture. If you really want to have a useful and meaningful career, then avoid this place.
