Pros

Progression over perfection. Continual desire to improve, and inform wider Ofgem strategy. Interesting work. Invests in LoD. 1 Day/week in office (current policy). Employee culture is good, people generally treat each other very well. The relationship with management (i.e. and that between SCS & the unions) is more convoluted.

Cons

Leadership & direction can be lacking. Management does not always act on findings. Decision making becomes opaque, with little to no debate. Like many places, not all colleagues are treated equally by management.

Pros

Great for work-life balance. I finish earlyish, generally around 5 and work remotely four days a week.

Cons

It will depend on your directorate, but in mine there aren't many learning and development opportunities. It feels like a dead end job. The salary is also poor, even by civil service standards. There is general lack of dynamism too
