      Pros

      - Generally kind and intelligent co-workers - Opportunities for feedback and 1:1 mentorship - Benefits are more generous than some other firms - Communication around work-life balance is generally open and thoughtful

      Cons

      - Lack of diversity is clear and shows up in culture; diversity of thought is seen as in direct opposition to certain pillars of culture - Inconsistent and/or a lack of opportunities for work - Personality-fit is valued too highly compared to producing quality work during formal and informal reviews; simultaneously, valued personality traits are not recognized openly by leadership and are not presented as skills that can or should be trained formally

      Thank you for sharing your experience, particularly as we have less feedback from Toronto Nousers. We prioritize high quality client work, meaning quality of thinking, communication and client interaction is important, alongside cultural/behavioral alignment. We hire great people, (kind and intelligent is a wonderful mix) to bring diversity of perspective, background and skills to our consulting work.

      Save yourself the trouble

      Pros

      Some consultants are friendly, welcoming and helpful

      Cons

      They demand long hours, senior consultants are rude and arrogant, start-up company with little to no support in your role, HR sucks and benefits suck Tried to be more active about diversity and inclusion, but no concrete results

      I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience at Nous. Nous has been in operation for close to 25 years. We have the agility and aspiration of a start up, however with 800 employees and a long track record of delivering positive influence I don't think we meet the start up definition. We do believe in self-management as part of our culture, meaning we provide guardrails and support, rather than an over reliance on structure, policy and hierarchy.
