Pros

- Excellent comp and decent benefits. - Still a leader in the Jamstack space, which is still nascent in terms of enterprise-level adoption. Next few years will be critical for the company to execute against its goals but the upside is still much very present. - This is a place where you experience tremendous growth if you are the type of an individual that is a go-getter. The path to a solution is not always clear but every colleague will provide support and go out of their way to make sure that the collective group can succeed.

Cons

- It is critical for remote companies to nail down documentation and async comms to succeed. While Netlify isn't the worst when it comes to those things, it certainly has room for improvement. - Some may point out that the culture has been slowly eroding over the years due to the massive headcount growth and leadership hires that have brought over their clans. While I do think this is a valid point, I don't think it has any impact on your day-to-day and it is an issue that nearly all starts experience as they experience crazy growth periods. That being said, leadership need to focus on continuing to lead with empathy and transparency to preserve the overall great culture (yes some issues present but overall still great) we have at Netlify. - Not the best WLB so this is not the place to be if you are looking to coast. That being said, work hard, play hard, and you will grow a ton.

Culture could be better

Pros

- The culture and people WERE great (see below). - The product is interesting if you’re into JAMStack - Annual company onsite event (before the pandemic) where you get to see colleagues from other locations

Cons

As the company grows, things are changing for the worst. - Clique culture - it’s not what you know but who you know and if you are the “loudest in the room” - Name-and-shame instead of approaching the person/team in private to solve the matters - “Superstars” that think they can do whatever they want at the expense of others - People hired from large companies are demanding / complaining for the things from their old job. Netlify is a startup with just 140+ employees, not one with thousands of employees and tens of millions dollars of revenue. The good employees that are genuinely collaborative are getting tired from all of these and many of them (at all levels) are leaving the company.

Thanks for sharing this feedback. Re: the clique culture, name and shame, this is not the culture we support and will look out for this in the future. We are an inclusive & caring culture and this is what we want to maintain & continue to foster. If you see this behavior or any of the other behaviors you mentioned happening, please do share this with your manager and/or also feel free to reach out to me as this is not good and something we would like to prevent. -LD

Pros

Smart, close-knit team, working on a new vision of the web. All employees encouraged to be developer evangelists and grow their skills in new areas. Well-loved product. Currently in growth mode, experiments abound but trajectory seems good. 1/3 remote team.

Cons

Team outside of founders are all recent hires.
