Pros

We work in a super flat hierarchy and get to solve meaningful problems with amazing co-workers. Building a developer-first technology platform ("industry cloud") for an industry like transportation / logistics is super interesting as this market is growing super quickly and is here to stay.

Cons

There are actual problems to solve, so don't join if you only want to chill :) Working in a startup means to take responsibility and that things actually depend on you. Might not be ideal for everyone.

Got laid off!

Pros

They supported me very good with relocation, but…

Cons

They laid me off without „any“ prior notice pr even indirect signs. I repeatedly received positive feedback from my direct manager, and one day the CEO told me I‘m fired, even though I didn’t directly report to him. When I asked why, they told me it’s not regarding my performance but it’s about the company, that’s why they couldn’t notice me sooner. I‘d say that can happen in startup environments for fragile companies, but if you’re in such unpredictable stage, you should be at least proactive in your communications and let people know what they should expect - not giving them positive feedback in the face and deciding to fire them behind the curtains. That caused many problems for me personally, mentally, and professionally, and the reason I‘m writing this is that I hope they never do such thing again.
