Beware of the Bully!

Pros

University of Michigan benefits & nice office space.

Cons

The CFO will work herself into the ground and is very intelligent. However, she is also the most dysfunctional leader I have ever met and forces her will upon her peers and subordinates. If you don't comply she will find a way to move you out of the organiztion and the other VPs have no backbone to stand up to her. They are like the meek kids on the playground that stand behind the bully in order to not be run over by her.

Pros

part of the U-M, so good benefits. Also lots of other perks.

Cons

really rigid and top down, old boys management style. Not a safe place for women, people of color or LGBTQ folks. Innovation is celebrated AND punished. management is not transparent, and people are treated poorly.

Pros

At one point this organization actually made strides in information technology and has a lot of history behind it.

Cons

But today they're basically incompetent management led by people who are there for a paycheck. There's really no push to make anything great and what you have is the bare minimums. A very high turnover with tech people and if you're into networking please enjoy the amount of time it takes before you realize they're leading you on about promotion. One of the few reasons to get into here was to get into the University as a whole but with cutbacks the only thing you'll get here is a break from unemployment. And it'll be a brief one as most people with talent run from here screaming. This is a place where talent dies.
