This company has no future!

Pros

The janitor is a good guy.

Cons

The CEO is ineffective, lacks vision and provides no strategic leadership. His management team is comprised of local people who have no other professional experience and lack business acumen. They are detached from the front line employees because they have nothing to offer in terms of providing direction or insights. The organization is dysfunctional and the corporate culture is dominated by an R&D cult living off past glory. Product development has plateaued and stagnated - existing customers are leaving and the competition easily wins new business opportunities. Marketing efforts are uninformed and uninspired, and they have no strategy to sustain the business. Antagonistic attitudes inhibit interdepartmental cooperation, causing widespread frustration and resentment across the organization. Compensation is subpar and employee morale is terrible.

Pros

The engineers and project managers are brilliant!

Cons

There's no future working at Maplesoft. Salaries are low with no chance for growth. The software is mediocre, but sales managers have unrealistic expectations for the market. Competitors easily win sales over Maplesoft. You don't see the CEO around the office much. The environment is toxic causing a high turnover rate within sales. Management likes to lead with fear and are biased based on personal relationships. There is a serious conflict of interest within the sales department that management brushes under the rug causing the team to be unmotivated. The company lacks teamwork and collaboration. Overall, Maplesoft is in desperate need of improvement.

Pros

Great people and very smart. Half the company has Phds in math or CS. Definitely a nerd culture. Lots of great conversations with fellow employees.

Cons

There are 2 distinct groups - 1. Sales, marketing 2. R&D The R&D folks are treated very well with high salaries and respect. The Sales and marketing teamare treated as 2nd class. The CEO is basically non-existent. He shows up to have the executive team stroke his ego and is otherwise non-apparent.The other members of the executive team are folks who have no experience outside of the company, and as a result seem not to know how to grow into a real company. This group needs a shakeup
