Thinking about Luxor? Think Again…

Pros

Most co-workers get along well. The parent company, EBSCO, is pretty successful and pick up where Luxor is failing. EBSCO also has good benefits and profit share.

Cons

Management is chaotic. Have made very poor decisions that have greatly impacted the company. No one was ever held responsible. Very political. If you are not part of the “in crowd,” you will not make it long. It is all favoritism, nothing is based on merit, skill, tenure, etc. No room for growth, promotion, or raises. The slightest bit of drama or gossip spreads like wild fire. Most managers do not make time for you. Always have office doors shut. When issues arise, more often than not, a blind eye is turned. HR is not all that helpful and are in the hands of those who cause people to quit.

Pros

Room for new ideas, I suppose

Cons

Upper management is very weak here. There are a lot of unqualified people in too prominent of positions. Unfortunately they also release solid contributors in favor of "friends" regardless of that person's true value. The brand is extremely weak and they have been comfortable with just letting that happen. Brand leadership is the weakest I would say. As a whole, the company sways between focusing on B2C and B2B; when one isn't going as planned, the focus will switch. Major switches and adjustments to fiscal-year goals throughout the year are very common. The company is extremely reactionary. Not having a social media presence has been an active goal it seems. No one is leadership historically has true experience with Social, so they all see too timid and scared to let some of the younger people take lead.

Toxic Workplace

Pros

Decent benefits and profit sharing.

Cons

No compassion or basic human decency for their employees. Heavy on favoritism and politics. If you're a new or remote employee, most likely you'll have no fair chance of growing and succeeding with the company. There's more I would like to disclose but can't in fear of retaliation. Toxic work environment, zero opportunity for growth, poor communication, managment and coaching, zero conflict resolution practices, dry raise promotion, preferential treatment.
