Pros
- Could be a place to start off your career. So if you are a new college grad, this place will be perfect for you. Expect to learn lots by wearing many hats in this small company. - Non-management/non-senior coworkers are awesome. Because of the BS that will be thrown your way from the top down, you will build comradery with your peers. These will be some of the sweetest and most loyal people you will ever meet. Unfortunately, it will only be a matter of time before they leave for greener pastures.
Cons
- Company does not value employees: Employees are more or less viewed as mindless robots that can be disposed whenever convenient. Loyalty is only a one-way street. Expect any more than this and you will be disappointed, every single time, guaranteed. - Company lacks/has no direction: The company's strategy can change as often as day to day, usually due to a sudden revelation by management. You will be instructed to support this new revelation, and if it fails, will be blamed for its failure. If successful, don't expect any credit, that'll remain at the top. - Company compensation/benefits are dismal: Expect to be paid much less than market value for your position. The justification for this is explained through a bonus program, but these are just empty promises. When the time comes, the company will say there are no raises/bonuses for [insert time period] for [xyz] reason. Don't expect much more than the salary you are hired at. Also, as a 1st year employee, you do not receive any vacation days. Accrual for that starts the 2nd year. No 401k program is offered either. You will receive 2 sick days but it is frowned upon to take it, even if you are deathly ill. - Company does not trust employees: Expect to be either micro-managed or monitored closely. When you come, when you go, they will know. It's like the Truman Show, but in real life. There will be no privacy so don't expect it.
