LifeWay Network is a nonprofit diamond-in-the-rough for people looking to be part of the movement against human trafficking. Even as a person working in the office and not directly with the women survivors living in our safe houses, I feel so connected to the mission. The work is challenging and builds on your strengths. The Executive Director & Founder is an inspiring visionary and a great supervisor and coach. Feedback is constructive and motivating. The leadership team is made up of intelligent and empathetic women who do amazing work and support each other. Overall, the culture is a learning environment with an emphasis on self-care. I am so happy to be part of it.
Cons
Being on a smaller team means many hats for each role. You have to be ready to bring energy and support each other's roles too.
In my role at LifeWay I was responsible for creating various opportunities for the employees to learn about trauma management, human trafficking and many great culture building experiences. The ED provided a foundation for collaboration, learning and inclusion. It was one of the biggest experiences in my career to have a leadership that centers the mission of the organization and who was genuinely committed to helping every employee succeed. I had a great work life balance, self care, personal time management and professional development were priority. Great leadership and opportunities for self improvement.
Cons
Too many older white women with no experience in the field who are not understanding of the mission and people housed. Hire people who care to help, advocate and support women survivors of human trafficking.
