This company needs to live its core values

Pros

I like that it is a Canadian company. Fair amount of entry and intermediate opportunities. Some nice amenities like fruit in the office.

Cons

This company is crippled by having inept middle managers who don't live our core values. Everyday I see people pushing their own agendas instead of working towards greater goals. This company has had a good run but with the ineffective and wasteful management I am worried about the future. Senior management like VP's need to look at the work of their directors and managers. Compensation is not competitive when you do a comparison to the market. It is only a matter of time until I leave.

Pros

Some good career challenges within a basic cloud technology road-map, courtesy of smart people who have left the organization.

Cons

Some serious unhealthy applied conditions primarily stemming from upper leadership operating under a guise that is actually in contrast to some very good values the rest of the organization seems to value: Poor communication by key upper management, with after the fact communication of asks and a "do as I say, not as I do mentality". Unfortunately CYA emails are a must Closed-group governance made by some rather oxymoronic roles & credentials that don’t value providing helpful feedback and seldom take input or enable teams to work with relevant aspects of the business; the business of IT with the internal customer suffers for ingenuity and is in decline, despite a pivoting to a cloud-first model that ultimately requires properly educated and knowledgeable staff. Stifled career path options due to upper management pecking order mentality & a well solidified culture of siloed organization structure and also due to a lack of recognition that real industry training need be planned with & provided to, other than corporate 'training'. Primarily a Microsoft shop due to closed-group governance. Bias work life balance expectations as practiced by upper management, with 'no overtime allowed', just expected free. Work from home not allowed, except for instances made with managerial permission, yet managers can work from home as they see fit. Performance rating system minced with Harvard smart goals, ultimately graded on 'relationship' performance with the manager. Attrition with a significant turnover of both mid-tier management and subordinate staff. A senior IT leadership that knows or should know this, and yet continues to entitle and enable some problematic upper management and does not care or wish to resolve despite said face.

Pros

The best thing about my time working for Ledcor Technical Services....

Cons

This company has a real difficultly understanding the key to success. That is the people they have working for them. You cannot treat people like dirt and expect to have quality people. Management gets raises and HUGE bonus cheques while the field workers take huge pay cuts. They pay well below the average pay in the industry. They ask continually for more work to be done for free. They will find any way they can to save money and if that means screwing the field workers they will not hesitate for a second. They make huge profits and still insist on not paying overtime. They will make you work all stats and weekends. Being a field tech is a great job if you don't mind working 17 hrs a day to make a living. Remember 17 hrs a day when you get paid for 8. The company boasts being a top employer which is obviously fictitious. They offer a great benefits package until you need it and then they will find a way, anyway to keep you from using it. There is little training and then they throw you in the field on piece rate and expect to figure it out. That's fine if you have proper training and support but without it is setting you up for failure. You maintain their vehicles on you own time without pay. If their vehicles are broken into you have to pay for the losses. They don't strive for success of the employees in any way they are only interested in making huge profits. They are by far the worst company you could ever work for. They target immigrants to work for less exploiting cheap labour. If you don't believe me.. Have a look for yourself. The best advice I could give is if you want to get into Telecom, get a job with AFL or Telus directly. They will treat you far better and pay you a living wage. And treat you with respect!
