Poor Treatment of Great People

Pros

The operations director and managers work very hard are knowledgeable and are able to get things done with the resources that are available to them. The full time account managers work very hard, handle difficult situations very well and do their best to provide the best services that are within their control. Laborers work extremely hard and are led by some great crew leaders.

Cons

Constant change in processes cause a lot of frustration & inefficiencies. Very poor work/life balance - work is always brought home with you and on vacation. This takes a lot of time away from family and other important aspects of life. Bonuses are based off the HR, Operations Director, and the CEO’s opinion and the bonus components are ambiguous and are not measurable or quantified. They do not follow labor laws while pushing snow and multiple individuals have had to pay the deductible or a part of the deductible on vehicles after working extremely long hours (16+). HR abuses the situation of the laborers. Laborers often don’t have higher than a 4rth grade education. They struggle to get paid what they deserve. A combination of daysheets, the piece rate system and the level of separation between laborers and HR make it extremely difficult for laborers to get paid correctly and in a timely manner. I have seen how this has had an extremely negative effect on families. This has caused us to constantly look for issues regarding checks. They have burned bridges with some of the top suppliers in the state due to not paying them for equipment/product that was purchased on accounts. The attitude of the CEO is that looking like you’re the best is more important than actually being the best. They get brand new trucks every year but they will not increase a person’s salary to keep them. Accolades and awards are searched out rather than an entity giving it to them freely.

Toxic work environment

Pros

You can make good money with the peice rate.

Cons

As a english only speaker I never felt I really fit in here. They love that cheap foreign labor and have built thier buisness to match that culture. The only time you will hear from management is to be yelled at if you do something wrong. The health insurance is awful, no PTO, no holidays,. Definitely a JOB and not a good place to start a career.

Mechanics be cautious

Pros

Lawn Butler is one of the fastest growing lawn care companies. The people who work there are generally good people and experts at professional lawn care.

Cons

If you’re a mechanic by trade and think working there is for you, be cautious. You will not ever be JUST mechanic. You will have to do everything from ordering parts, stocking inventory, time and equipment management, and service writing because none of the people who take credit for what you do understand your part in the career. It’s been three years since I’ve worked here, and I can only hope they got better in that time for the sake of the guy who still works there. But leaving the company and going to another mechanic job is like night and day. The money they pay is not worth it. If you have any mechanical experience, I promise you can find a much higher paying job at a place that is more acclimated to how mechanics should be treated
