    Pros

Interesting and exciting products and projects Smart and hard-working engineers to learn from Full machine shop with CNC machines to fabricate your own parts for projects Rewarding work

    Cons

Biomedical devices take a lot of time and effort to get to market which means timelines can be delayed easily resulting in time pressure across all teams. This is industry wide and not specific to this company. Kardium has adjusted well in the past few years to accomodate as the company has entered the commercialization stage.

    Pros

Despite it's rapid growth, kardium has held onto that startup feel in the sense that the management is approachable and kind. The work is very fufilling

    Cons

Like most places with interesting work, the work culture is that most employees choose to work overtime, however, the flexible hours helps offset this

A great company striving for big accomplishments

    Pros

-The company has built an amazing team, fully of highly intelligent and creative employees -The work environment is really motivating. People are very engaged and always willing to help each other out. -Employees are given a lot of autonomy and resources to be successful -Management trusts its employees and treats them with respect. -Hours are flexible, allowing people to respond to the demands of family life. -The work is challenging and rewarding

    Cons

I feel very lucky to be working at Kardium, and believe it is the right place for me. However, while they are not “cons”, there are a couple features of our environment that would not make it a great fit for everybody. 1. It is a high-performance environment: People are measured on their ability to get results, which means this is not a place where you can coast along or just come in and fill a desk for 8 hours a day. To be clear, I’m not saying it’s a hard-driving environment where people are chained to their desks, people work hard because they are motivated by what we are trying to achieve. 2. Projects can be very dynamic: The company responds quickly to new information, which means project focus can change rapidly. Some people may find this disorientating, but I like it because it means we do not waste time on work that will not be successful. Also, these changes, and the reasons behind them, are always well communicated by management. Also, I think that the new building is great, but it could use a chin-up bar.

It is unlikely you will work with a more capable group of people elsewhere

    Pros

Highly capable staff, collaborative environment, transparent CEO and senior management. High-level design and business decisions are based on critical debate, not autocracy by the investors or CEO. Decisions are clearly explained, and the CEO takes time to answer questions. Lower-level technical decisions are generally high-quality and backed up with thorough, diverse, and competent review. Manufacturing staff is hard-working, honest, collaborative, and highly skilled. Strict training regime. Product quality is generally very high. Everyone is in one building and everyone is friendly and approachable. People are chosen for roles based on merit -- ability and performance; there is a high bar for entry and it is expected that performance is maintained once in a role. The company rewards performance with options. When employees express interest in growing their career beyond their current role, generally they will be given additional responsibilities that demonstrate their ability to perform along their career path. This practice has led to promotions. The field and industry are highly rewarding for me; they combine engineering with ethics and the end reward of making people better.

    Cons

People not liking or understanding a regulated environment and quality management systems may become frustrated. The automatic coffee machine fills up the company-issued cups near to the top and leaves little room for cream. If anyone has any workarounds let me know.
