Pros

Corps members (paid volunteers) love Jumpstart. It's a great way to gain ECE experience and work with kids. The work they do with under-served children is invaluable. As a staff member, the benefits were great and the salary was fair. I would have worked for Jumpstart for a very long time if it had not been driven into the ground by poor decisions and an incompetent CEO.

Cons

Two massive layoffs in 2 years and constantly shifting priorities, duties, staff, and supervisors make for a very stressful work environment. Each year the funding is less and less. Every 9 months, employees have to wonder if their position/site will be funded for the next year. Supervisors either dodge working at all or control all information to give themselves a sense of importance and job security. This is not that way organizations should be run.
