Pros

I struggle to call out any pros here. I was really excited when J-W rolled out an employee survey and leadership training once upon a time and thought it was a great initiative. Only to realize it was to meet an objective of curbing the attrition rate (employee turnover). The training they received was of no consequence shortly thereafter in my experience. It would seem the district manager, superintendent and administrator must have gone to the other training on how to lose the best talent and CYA that most times falls on the backs of the supervisors.

Cons

J-W was a great company once upon a time, and can still be in some areas. It is amazing the difference that a few poor choices of personnel placement can make in disrupting the moral and effectiveness of a district that could do so much more with better leadership. Some districts have it, and they do great things in as positive of a work environment as there can be within the sector. But still, there are better companies to work for like USA Compression, they really celebrate their service department and diversity. Whereas, JWs senior fleet service management is comprised of mostly salesman, so no small wonder where their loyalties and focus are. Cons: - Communication within the company in some districts is not only frowned upon, it is strictly and openly prohibited to the point of termination. And I quote, "Corporate does not need to be in our business". - Company policies are subjective and only apply to lower/mid level employees. - HR is a proxy to settle anything that could become a disruption in the value stream of the company. - Soo much of safety is left to the discretion of customers and the upkeep and management of their sites. If nothing else, guys please be careful and pay attention! Your families depend on it. - There is an awesome safety guy that will go to the end of the world to help, but even he faces the same constraints. Don't be blinded by charismatic people and nice words. The proof is in the fruition of tangible things. When your mind throws up red flags, pay attention and update your resume!
