Pros

None, if you want experience at a non profit this is not the place to get it.

Cons

Terrible management and support. Discouraging of asking for help and horrible trainings. Horribly unhelpful managers who do you have any interest in helping. A very caddy work environment.

Opportunities for Growth Non-existent and Incompetent Managers

Pros

Good starter job. The staff excluding the managers were great. Appreciated the flexible schedule.

Cons

Even when you explicitly express how you want to advance professionally, no one at this company seems to care. The opportunities for growth are nonexistent and the managers made an already difficult job unbearable. It is also quite frustrating to see staff members in already upper level positions get meaningless promotions and raises while the majority of the work is executed by lower level staff. Concerning the salary, don't expect to get anything near a livable wage for NYC. What you can expect is a CEO who comes into your office and tells you that they dread seeing your emails in their inbox. Great way to boost team morale.

Supportive and Mission-Driven Environment

Pros

This is a well-run not-for-profit cultural exchange organization that infuses its mission into all areas of the company culture. The staff here are truly committed to giving international students and young people enriching cultural experiences in the United States. The company makes sure to offer the staff a great benefits package, plenty of social activities, and a nice work/life balance (i.e. you're encouraged to take a full hour lunch break out of the office; no one expects you to answer an email at 3am or while you're taking your vacation; etc.). There are also opportunities to represent the company abroad and at conferences here in the U.S., which for those who love travel, are great perks!

Cons

Not many cons, like any job it has challenges and it's times when you have to deal with difficult clients, but you have a support system to help you through it because we all take a very team-based approach to the work.
