It pains me to write this, as I worked there for multiple years. But the Humble of old is no longer there. The mission of charity and helping indies has been totally usurped by corporate demanding growth. Multiple times they referred to Humble as a "revenue-generating machine" but never talked about charity. And even when they acknowledge how much money Humble made, they never actually gave us the resources to make hires or pay current employees a fair wage (most positions were underpaid relative to the industry). They started taking away perks as well to align us more with the rest of corporate's portfolio (such as killing a food stipend and removing most of a wellness stipend, resulting in an overall pay cut).
There were multiple rounds of layoffs--entire teams were cut by those who had no idea what those teams actually did (Note the refer-a-friend program being killed, because they got rid of the team that kept it in check). Each round of layoffs further killed morale and led to more strain on individuals. Those left are struggling to keep the lights on (and are looking for an exit themselves).
I think Humble will continue. But virtually no one is left with the company who had any tenure. It is being wholesale absorbed into IGN and wrung for every single cent they can, while refusing to support it. It makes me sad as a lot of great people built some incredible things. But it's all being torn down and discarded.
