A "unique" company

Pros

Travelling to new places You can meet some nice and smart people

Cons

This company is just unique, I have never seen another company where: - Cooking for your colleagues is a high priority, you need to take care of what kind of food they like, if they have some restrictions and of course you need to go and buy the ingredients to do that, it does not matter your position or real work priorities, at some point you must to do those kind if activities - You must drink alcohol, and give toasts every time there is a dinner, otherwise you brake the rules of the cult - If the CEO is not in a good mood you might see how he calls, idiots, stupid, brainless and other bunch of impolite adjectives to your colleagues, and if you are not careful he might yell at you as well - Stone aged mentality in many aspects, they still think that how do you look is more important than your skills, you need to follow dress code even when you never deal directly with customers, suppliers or parters. - Insane and old company policies, if CEO decides that something is not good one day, he will write it down as a company policy and everybody have to follow it - Useless HR department - You will remember your times at Kindergarten, you might feel as a child - Most of the managers do not have skills to be a manager, they are in that position just because they have worked for many years at the company - Very unorganised company

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience with us did not match our goal of creating a collaborative and inspiring environment for all our employees. We value all feedback and constantly search ways to improve. Let me address a couple of your specific concerns: Socialising is very important for us and we believe that cooking together is a great team building activity. As you probably noted everyone is asked to share in this activity when attending some company events. This means that managers and juniors alike get to work together, know each other in person and develop a better level of communication. We accept the challenges of this activity, for example, we pay attention to the food restrictions of our people, so that everyone at the dinner can eat and feel happy about food. We do serve wine during our company dinners and encourage our employees to toast to promote self confidence in public speaking and as a tradition of thanks giving. It does not mean drinking alcohol is mandatory. You should have noticed that many guests at any company dinner have water only in their glasses. We do have a dress code in our company and we believe this is a reasonable expectation for a work environment as you might not be meeting externals directly but you are visible in the office environment. It is also a mark of respect for your colleagues that you dress nicely and would like to make a good impression on them. Humanity is still at the point where the first impression matters. Our policies are indeed old. Most were written 20 years ago by our team and based on our company experience. Not a single policy has been created on the spur of the moment. But yes, some are outdated by now. Thank you again for your feedback. I would just wish you were more proactive in sharing your doubts about company policies and traditions with your manager or HR, so we could support you. If you would like to speak more about your experience, please contact me at hrhelp@hansaworld.com and we will set up time to talk.

Pros

Some nice collegues, thus many of those has left recently. Working with some interesting technologies. Tech oriented company. International atmosphere.

Cons

Heavily downsized lately. CEO Karl Bohlin has "management with fear" style. More like Mr Bohlin´s playground than a normal company.

Needs Major Overhaul

Pros

People are really nice and competent for the most part. It's a great place to start your career if you are young and looking to develop new skill set, but it's not a great place to stay for long. You get to travel!

Cons

Where to begin... it's a very outdated company with odd policies and procedures that needs to be updated and supposedly someone is doing it. The set of policies (written and unwritten) really does reflect the company culture well, there seems to be a constant need to dictate what adults should be doing. There seems to be a lack of discussion as to what works best for the company as a whole - Karl just does what he thinks works best and you are supposed to know and agree. The traveling is great but you are expected to travel during the weekends and although you get some days back for doing that, it doesn't apply for every conference you go to, which isn't made very clear (another issue - they lack transparency). The technology hinders your productivity. The system, which you are expected to work on, crashes all the time. ALL THE TIME. Sexist comments are for some odd reason, accepted. And although the company preaches about innovation, acceptance and creativity, if anyone goes against the company or the policies, as Karl has put it, "give me your resignation letter."
