I worked at Gray Matter Systems full-time

    Pros

The pay is good, and if you're not in the PA area you can work from home. The office in Warrendale is awesome . Theres a gym, cafeteria, and foosball table. The benefits are normal.

    Cons

The technical work is challenging because often times we're over worked for underbid jobs. Being on the cutting edge of technology sometimes means early adoption which is like shoving a square peg through a circle holpe. Some clients are real rude.

    Advice to Management

Nurture your growth by promoting from within. You can't have non-technical people lead technical people. If you show faith in your workforce, they'll bend over backwards for you.

I have been working at Gray Matter Systems full-time

    Pros

Gray Matter is an awesome place to work. The people are amazing, and I look forward to starting work every day. I've met some of the most friendly, kind, and talented people while working here.

The company is growing fast, and everyone is on board to do their part to help. Plenty of opportunity for growth. Management is always looking to improve.
Work/life balance is great, and management is always looking out for their employees.

    Cons

The company is growing fast, and so there's occasionally some growing pains (as you would expect). This really isn't a con, unless you don't like change and are looking to do the bare minimum everyday.

Nothing else comes to mind... if there is ever an issue or a reoccurring problem, management always looks for the best solution for the team. Management listens, just make sure you bring it up.

    Advice to Management

    Thumbs up!

I worked at Gray Matter Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have good prodcuts to sell. If you are sales person and already have LOTS of contact and can add in system, you are the MAN!!
    Fun loving work environment.
Aggressive owners and want to grow.

    Cons

Most of employess work after hours, weekends but no reward.
No one want free ride but they need to share profit with all empoyess not only with sales guys.
Horrible and career killing compete agreement you have to sign, which is not good for technical staff.
Good for fresh graduates, not for experinced persons.

    Advice to Management

Be more sincere wtih employess. Make contarct simple so that you could attaract more real talent. It is professional black mailing control staff based on contract if they want to move to other company .

I worked at Gray Matter Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Immediate vacation time (you'll need it), unlimited sick time (not really), friendly staff, paid travel and expenses for sales, work from home (expect 80 hour work week)

    Cons

on-boarding is nonexistent, leadership lacks in motivating employees, reviews to bring you down instead of up, annual raises are rare to receive, nepotism is apparent, upper management doesn't practice core values, very expensive health benefits, paid monthly, expect to learn everything yourself there is zero real training happening at this place

    Advice to Management

Motivate employees, get better benefits, reviews should encourage not discourage employees, upper management should lead by example and core values, consider people have families monthly pay is abominable

I have been working at Gray Matter Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gray Matter is really focused on innovation in the Industrial Internet (IIoT) and the Internet of Things (IoT) field. I love that we get to work with leading technologies, both hardware and software, onsite and in the cloud, to solve customer problems. The management team supports new ideas and allows everyone to contribute. It's a great place to work.

    Cons

The culture is really built around teamwork, innovation, and performance. Thought it's not really a con, you need to come ready to contribute, participate and perform.

I have been working at Gray Matter Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Gray Matter Systems is wonderful place to go to work. The workplace environment is the perfect blend of business and fun, and great work is done on a daily basis. Leadership does not look down upon employees, but rather finds ways to raise them up without micromanaging. Gray Matter makes sure to hire only the best personalities, and the work ethic is something to be proud of. Coworkers are always willing to lend a hand. The projects that Gray Matter works on make a difference, and you feel a part of them when you work there.

    Cons

On-boarding is practically nonexistent. Not a place to work if you want your hand held. Be prepared to put in maximum effort to learn what you need to and be pushed beyond your comfort zone.

I have been working at Gray Matter Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've been working here at Gray Matter for nearly 6 months. Being employed by Gray Matter has been a great opportunity. The projects are engaging and challenging, and work is seldom repetitive. You are given a performance review on a quarterly basis, which is far superior to the typical yearly reviews of other companies. The leadership here is very engaged in the day-to-day operations of the company, which isn't always the case. They also strive to give each employee the tools and resources needed to succeed.

    Cons

As another reviewer mentioned, performance is paramount. Definitely not a con, but something that should be noted regardless.
