Pros

- Good, talented artists. - Producers here are great. - Friendly people. - OT pay with meals. - Okay extended health.

Cons

- Boring projects. - Artists are disrespected. Performance reviews are supposed be every year with pay review, but in talking to other artists here, that apparently never happens which is very disrespectful. Artists shouldn't have to repeatedly ask to get their reviews and wait months for them to happen. They should be set up automatically and on time. At the very least happen quickly after being asked the first time. Vancouver studio has lots of great talent but seem to be more like the studio for all the boring and tedious work the others (NY and LA) don't want to do and any work that Vancouver studio gets is often paint or repetitive/boring work. For Vancouver compers especially, they're not going to be adding much to their reel at this studio, so it's not going to further career prospects for most. After all, it's mostly grunt work for TV shows, not feature film. If you're looking to improve your reel, you'd be better off doing feature film bgprep at most other studios. And if you're a comper who can't do, or doesn't like paint work, it's not worth working at the Vancouver studio.

Pros

Extremely nice and understanding people. Free breakfast, snack, fruit and drink everyday. Right next to skytrain which makes the commute very convenient. Jon Cowley the head of the studio is very nice and listens to problems and conflicts and solves them quickly. Something that I have never seen in ANY companies before is that FUSEFX pays for tutorials generously. that is what I have asked in almost all companies I have ever worked at and they all had limitations like we only pay for staff to buy tutorials whereas at FuseFX you can have access to the top level of paid tutorial and if you need something which is not paid for yet you can ask and they will buy that for you. Not all companies management understands the value of education at work. All supervisors are very nice and caring towards their show. Pay is competitive if you are proved to be a good asset for the team. All cg and vfx artists are nice and talk to each other respectfully. They are busy and expanding very fast. New projects are very exciting. We recently worked on a steven spielberg tv show which was fx heavy and challenging. Pipeline in Houdini at FuseFX is one of the best pipelines I have ever worked with. it has very nice features that makes it really easy to work in Houdini and transfer files and nodes around with other artists. Fuse has occasional small events like best employee of the month, beer Friday and dinner. Most desks are standing desks. If you require a standing desk there might be a line up to get one but you eventually get one. In general I found FuseFX willing to pay for employees instead of being stingy and not care about employees' health.

Cons

I only wish we had more space in one floor instead of 2 different flloors.

Pros

nothing except a couple interesting people willing to talk and help. The majority didn't look up from their desk. No structure or leadership except micro managing when it didn't matter.

Cons

hours, pay, working conditions, management, transparency, accountability.
