Pros

It's hard to find a good reason to work for them. - Salary was fine - One particular coworker that is not there anymore

Cons

There was no day working for them that I wanted to quit or be fired. One of my worst professional experiences. - There was a change in the role responsibilities after I join them. I signed to develop a new platform and my full-time job for almost 3 months from minute one was fixing bugs. Bait and switch strategy and a full-time burnout. - No room for improvement and professional growth. Everything is limited by the technical knowledge and skills of managers. Which translates to a very disappointing codebase and infrastructure. - Awful internal communication. The only times I talked with the technical managers were during my interview, evaluation day, and last day in the company. As a newcomer, I felt like just an asset from minute one - A technical manager with little to very basic knowledge of technical software development skills, no mentoring competency whatsoever, and lack of leadership. A really difficult person to work with, selfish, and completely moved by personal goals. If you are a senior dev, avoid working with him at all costs, as a junior, get your experience and go somewhere else. - No feeling of teamwork or being part of a team. The team culture is non-existent.

Pros

Great colleagues, very nice and relatable people. The team is small and close-knit, people are friendly (apart from management). The work environment is also pretty good, it's pretty much like any other small startup in NYC.

Cons

Executives and managers do not respect their employees. Senior management will do anything to pay you well below market rates. Some managers will micro-manage you and discard your feedback every step of the way. As an entry-level dev, I didn't feel respected, and I felt like I was being taken advantage of by management. The company has a very high turnover rate and employs mostly entry level people. For this reason it largely does not follow industry best practices and you will find it difficult to grow professionally in this environment. You won't find any expert mentor there to help you improve your craft. Executives also have little principles and little respect for ethics or even the law. You may be asked to do unethical things. That was a huge red flag for me and caused me to leave quickly. In my opinion the business also has little growth perspectives. It has been stagnating for a while and failed to reinvent itself after getting lucky with one game. It was a hit for about one month. Don't go there for the startup "rock ship" experience, you would be severely disappointed.

Pros

Your coworkers are amazing. Some really, really nice people. Everyone is very smart, driven, interesting to talk to. The game itself is pretty great and the users and community are really passionate about it. The office is beautiful. Free snacks.

Cons

Lack of communication between management and everyone else runs rampant leads to scrambling to play catch-up. Decisions made with little-to-no transparency by 1 or 2 people at the top. Communication really shouldn't be this poor in a company of ~20 people. Pay is also quite below average, perks aren't great (no matching 401K's, no gym discounts etc), and the HR system is confusing and opaque. Very little growth opportunity.
