I have been working at Fraser Health part-time

    Pros

Rewarding interactions with patients/clients/residents Coworkers are great to work with.

    Cons

Not enough staff and too much workload, management refuses to acknowledge this because then they'd have to do something about it. As a result, there's never enough time to do all the proper care necessary for patients.

I have been working at Fraser Health full-time for less than a year

    Pros

+ Good colleagues to work with + High emphasis on professional development + Courses paid for + Leave, benefits, salary as per any govt. org + Seems to be ahead of the curve compared to other health authorities

    Cons

+ It's a bureaucracy. + Lots of unwritten rules, processes, so if you don't know something because you're new, you'll get in trouble. + Need to be a politician to navigate successfully. It can be easy to try and focus more on this than the real work sometimes. Especially more so when politics is not part of my strong skill set.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible and dynamic- less processes so we can be creative in our jobs.

I worked at Fraser Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay cheque, good dental, extended medical doesn't cover a lot of prescriptions.

    Cons

Poor, weak and unsupportive Managers and supervisors with old style managing skills and show who little respect for the employees. Some Managers are childish and fight amongst each other. and supervisors are rude and talk about other staff to other employees. The Managers are hardly ever in the office and need to retire! Extremely toxic work environment, staff who have been there for a long time have high... school mentality, talk about others, pass the buck. Employees tolerate bullying and harassment in the workplace which HR Department should be dealing with...totally unacceptable. Technology needs to be updated.

    Advice to Management

Hire more competent and skilled people, and fire or offer early retirement to the ones that are causing the toxic environments, even if they are in management roles. Fraser Health is losing a lot of good people who are hard working.
