Pros

- Opportunities, this organization is owned by CSI, which owns many software companies and movement is possible - Opportunity to learn the analytics that drive M&A transactions - Experience in the software industry

Cons

Upper management prescribes to the "sink or swim" mentality. - This is the reason for the high turnover - Zero work life balance which is a trickle down from upper management. Easily 80+ hours a week , and management wears this as a badge of honor rather than something that should be addressed. - Terrible training, lack resources, and inconsistent / unreasonable expectations placed on employees. - Many of the employees are awkward and lack people skills - Imagine an organization run by accountants - HR is a mess, a lot of turnover within HR department as well.

Pros

This is a review for the Accounting group located in Toronto, ON, Canada - Challenging work with plenty of new software-related accounting concepts and policies to learn - As FOG is part of a much larger corporation (Constellation Software), ability to move within Constellation and greatly expand career experience

Cons

Non-existent work/life balance -60-80 hr weeks are normal + working weekends and vacations Poor compensation -Basic benefits, basic vacation, no RRSP/RSP matching -Salary is especially terrible considering workload Poor training and resourcing -Little to no training provided -'Sink or swim' attitude - figure out everything on your own -Not enough people/resources provided to cover all the work Toxic workplace -Brown-nosing, blaming, spreading gossip/rumours -Very little collaboration/working together towards improvement Poor management engagement -Management is either ignorant and/or doesn't care about issues above -No attempt to improve workplace conditions Little HR engagement -HR is based in the US and very little engagement with Toronto staff -HR receives all feedback from management - who report that 'everything is fine' despite turnover All of the above results in huge turnover - around 50%

Pros

The interviewers are easygoing The office space is neat The travel opportunity can be enticing The perks are average, but still appreciated Occasional mentoring and help from management. Potential to move within the company's different subsidiaries.

Cons

There is a lot of gossip (considering a small staff size) Favouritism, and high-school mentality is openly shown Management takes sides The world-load is unreasonable The payrate is garbage for the workload taken on There is a lot of brown-nosing from employees to managers to cover their hinds. You are forced to do unprecedented amounts of work during your 'travels'

Everyone has a very different career path within Fog Software Group (and Constellation Software Inc.) and we’re glad to hear your view and experience so far. At this time, our HR department is centralized in our corporate office but has always maintained an open level of communication and don’t feel it is necessary to have physical HR presence in an office or space in order for employee culture to thrive. We encourage employees to discuss and bring concerns to their managers and escalate to HR from there if they feel they’re not being heard. We’ve encouraged the team to email HR@fogsoftwaregroup.com or call (if preferred) with any questions/concerns. We also make available information to the CSI Whistleblower Hotline where employees can anonymously report concerns/issues. Additionally, we plan to execute training for our managers on various topics to better prepare them for their role on a daily basis of supporting you and making sure you have a positive work environment where you can be productive and successful. Our priority has always been to support our employees and the businesses they help us run. We look forward to collaborating and developing stronger partnerships as we continue to make improvements within our organization with the help and feedback of the team.
