Pros

Most of the team were incredibly talented and hard working, although most seem to have left now.

Cons

Inexperienced founder is completely dysfunctional. Scatterbrained and incapable of basic logical reasoning. Piggybacks off the (admittedly great) vision of ealier employees, but now with no execution or strategy at all. All CEOs have areas they're strong in, and areas they're not, which is to be expected. However the good ones know their strengths and don't micromanage their way through every bit of work that goes on, destroying any progress and switching plan every couple of days. Even has the temerity to try and control engineering and operational matters despite being one of the least technical and organised people in the company.

Pros

I struggle to think of much, they pay was decent for a company of that size.

Cons

Flow Engineering was an absolute nightmare. Where do I even begin? First off, the team is utterly dysfunctional due mainly to terrible leadership. And let's talk about leadership - or lack thereof. The so-called "leader" has zero real-world experience. It's like they did a few internships and decided they were an expert. Their constant micromanaging and arbitrary decision-making make it impossible to get anything done. And don't even get me started on the never-ending pivots and changes in direction. One day we're focusing on one thing, and the next day it's something completely different. It's like trying to navigate through a maze blindfolded. The turnover rate is high, especially among women. Maybe it's because the toxic work environment makes it impossible for anyone to stick around for more than five minutes without wanting to run for the hills. And let's not forget about work-life balance - or lack thereof. Working hard is one thing, but at Flow working late is practically a requirement. Want to leave at a reasonable hour? Good luck with that. You'll be labelled as lazy faster than you can say "burnout." In conclusion, if you enjoy being part of a dysfunctional team led by clueless management, constant chaos, high turnover rates, terrible work-life balance, and an egomaniac CEO, then by all means, join Flow. Otherwise, run far, far away. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We appreciate all feedback and welcome it as an opportunity to grow and better ourselves. To be completely transparent, we recognise Flow has been through some tumultuous times (as many start-ups do in their early days). Building a product that we are passionate about and which solves a real problem has only been possible by learning quickly. We iterate fast, test quickly and are okay with getting things wrong, changing direction and scrapping work if it’s not paying off. We’ve found this to be by far the most effective way of quickly learning what works and what doesn’t in the face of massive uncertainty. As you have pointed out, some people are not comfortable working this way, whilst others are energised by it. To tackle this, we have built clarity around this into our hiring process - as it is important for our team to be aligned and fulfilled with the way we all work. We are sorry that your experience with us fell short of what you expected and would welcome you to get back in touch if you are open to this, so we can tackle head-on the more serious concerns that have been raised - please reach out directly to one of the team, or via contact@flowengineering.com. Wishing you all the best, Flow Engineering

Pros

The pay is so so. Although, that only applies to new hires.

Cons

Whatever you do, do NOT take a job here without contacting a few people that have left the company in the last couple of years to get some honest feedback. You will be sold the dream, aggressively. It's easy to be lured in. All I'll say is take the time to find those on LinkedIn and ask them why they left/were fired. You'll find that every word of the other negative review here is true.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are sorry that you felt you were miss-sold on the company. At Flow, we hold our hands up to being a passionate bunch - every team member is here because they excel at their role and are fantastic at it. This passion drives us to reach our goals, and incidentally ‘sell’ our vision. We understand that it is important to balance this with transparency on the grit and determination it takes to move the needle forward incrementally and we are working on doing better at this. Please do reach out to one of the team or via contact@flowengineering.com if you would like to have a wider dialogue on this.
