Dreadful place to work

Pros

Overtime by salary employees is encouraged, but only when actually required. You are not expected to stay late just to be there over 40hrs/week. Like anyplace though, when the workload demands it, you will work some overtime.

Cons

Management is more concerned about using company profits to refurnish their offices, lease newer luxury vehicles, and take extended overseas "business trips", than giving back, in any way, to the employees. In the 7 years of my employment, I have had a total raise of 4%. This was NOT a preformance based raise, but limited companywide. At the holiday party in 2012, the president was "very excited" to announce performance based raises would be given this year. Well of course the employees were happy to hear this, but the maximum allowed was a whopping 2%. In addition to the lack of monitary compensation, management does not feel the need to give notice to positive employee performance with even a satasfactory word. My specific position allows me to make recommendations to improve safety, and I have done so on several occasions. In most cases, my suggestions have been rejected due to "excessive cost." In one specific example, the failure to correct the issue I had identified resulted in the injury of 2 employees, both very serious. I am quite suprised there have not been any fatilities to date. Any serious advancement is directly related to your knowledge of German. If you don't speak it, good luck advancing.

Pros

Antioch Tennessee Location: The pay was the lowest I have made for this job title. This was encouraging to find a better place to make a living. Throughout the facility, the production employees at many points of operation must stoop over into large bins full of parts repetitively throughout their shift. No means of an engineered mechanical device to lift and tilt is provided. I made them aware as to this hazard and potential chronic or immediate MSDs that it will cause. As with other issues, ie LOTO minimums, Machine specific instruction and training, ability to effectively isolate energy, shift change LOTO procedure etc,, it went unheeded. I was told repeatedly, yeah we need to do that by xxxxxx xxxxx, or, I was told, " We don't really do that down here." Press Maintenance Supervisor. Talking the Talk only does ZERO towards compliance and a safe work environment. After mentioning these and other concerns, multiple times in a professional manner, I was "busted down" in job responsibilities and potential for future advancement for fabricated association with other technician's improper repairs that resulted in equipment damage. At the point of these lies slandering my technical/professional reputation, and detrimental lessening of my job placement within the company, I became less than professional, and expressed my inner feelings about the situation. You see, I despise liars and thieves…they became both by their own actions. I have a long list of violations occurring there, however these come to mind. Other issues need to be addressed along with these mentioned. Something is better than nothing. It may stimulate them to effectively be pro active in utilizing a SMS. I am familiar with another Maintenance Technician , that was previously penalized (disciplined) for bringing up safety concerns. His employee records will substantiate this statement. My opinion of this; Feintool believes they can make up their own rules. Obvious, multiple machines and their operator/s stations throughout the facility. No magnifying glass will be necessary. In part, The LOTO conditions I stated may be substantiated by noting upon inspection, there are no machine specific procedural documents, or infographic placard at ANY machine. I will vouch I was given ZERO training before working on these machines. I inquired about what sort of training materials were available. Written OHS technical documents on LOTO and other HSE subjects. It may not put me, specifically, in harms way, however, I observed training is not provided to other new hire Maintenance Technicians. Re LOTO. " We don't really do that down here"... I still can't believe a supervisor would say that. They did have a lock that everybody’s key would open….brilliant. I guess since switchgear and other controls/ PS panels are left open and/or accessible most of the time anyways.

Cons

The Management Team is full of CONS. Leaders are chosen if they are a boot lickers /friends/ neighbors. This maintains the consistency throughout the management "team", so they all will have well licked boots.

Pros

It's a job so to speak!

Cons

Feintool is a Swiss company with many of the same views of other European companies. Make it shine and look pretty even if the product we make is "sub-par". I have been with Feintool over 10 years and I'm amazed how management seems to think or believe all employees are one happy family. Feintool Cincinnati is hitting record months in revenue/sales but NONE of this translates to more money to the people that make that happen, the HOURLY EMPLOYEES! The company just keeps salaries low and works the hourly 6 and 7 days a week with the attitude we won't pay you much but you can make up for it in overtime and being away from your family making us money so we (the investors and upper management) can "line" our pockets. New machinery and painted buildings does not a happy employee make. I'm not a union advocate but this seems like a good place for one except Feintool would shut the doors and take its profits back to the Alps and leave the hard working man with even less than what he has now.
