Avoid at all costs!

Pros

Make your own schedule- however clients cancel or no show all the time, so the best laid plans often fall flat.

Cons

Pay is horrendous- benefits are useless. It's basically a practitioner mill, they couldn't care less if you're there or not, no recognition, and the clients are so ridiculously complicated insofar as their diagnosis etc., that the work ends up being extremely stressful. Did I mention there is basically zero training? They want you to know how to fill out all of this paperwork that is totally new to you without any support, and you are responsible for your billable hours each week which means that whether or not your clients "show" is not their problem, it's yours, and you will NOT be paid if they no show. All in all, made me hate the entire profession of mental health, and it's going to be a while til I get back my passion for the work. Avoid at all costs!

Pros

Rewarding work Good ethics (management generally cares about practitioners and clients) Independence (there are many opportunities to work on your own, however it takes a lot of effort to maintain hours and schedule. Lead up time to a full client load can take up to 3 months.)

Cons

Low Pay No direct deposit Lots of driving Long hours (some times client's can meet at in the morning but most client availability is from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, this results in very long days).

Terrible place to work

Pros

Some of the supervisors are great.

Cons

Benefits are terrible, high turnover rates, management treats community based employees like trash. If your clients cancel, you have to use PTO to make hours. HR flat out lied to me about pay and benefits when I was accepting my offer, told me that you get paid the therapy hour amount for all billed hours (i.e. travel time and time with clients) and only get paid $15 for your non-billed time (i.e. paperwork and meetings). That's not true at all. You get paid $15 for all your hours except for therapy hours. If I had none that, I would not have accepted an offer from them.
