I have been working at Explore Learning full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked at Explore for 7 years in three different roles (Tutor, AD, CD) and have to say that each role has helped me develop personally and professionally. When I was a tutor I was extremely low in confidence with public speaking and the high levels of customer interaction helped me to overcome this. As an AD I gained an array of new skills in several different areas I feel most jobs would be unable to offer and as a CD I was able to develop myself as a trainer, as well as experiencing immense responsibility at quite a young age.

    Cons

Working hours and weekends put some people off but if you're invested in helping children it shouldn't be an issue.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to improve staff wellbeing.

I have been working at Explore Learning part-time

    Pros

    - Flexible working hours, as they tend to employ university students
    - More rewarding than a typical student job in a bar/pub
    - Learn a variety of skills, including compere training
    - Annual pay-rise (subject to performance and biennial appraisals)
    - Ideal for someone interested in teaching

    Cons

    - Quality of centre very dependent on quality of management team
    - Shifts tend to be short as centre operates after-school during the week, which can be a pro or a con
    - Some centres can sometimes feel sales driven, rather than educationally driven

I have been working at Explore Learning part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Good work experience for the future
    -Times work around college timetable
    -Lots of support from management
-Great team of tutors and good days out

    Cons

    -High manager turnover
-I get paid no way near enough for the responsibilities and skills needed
-Most employees are students so the yearly appraisals and pay increases are not enough- short-term job
-Lots of pressure on tutors around the fact managers have sales targets (that is not my responsibility)
-Recently managers don't pay attention to shift amounts- a lot of the tutors are in education so can't do over 10 hours every week
