Pros
The salary wasn't the worst but could have been better.
Cons
This company manages by ruthlessness, do it or you're fired attitude, no regard for employees health and well being what-so-ever. I worked on their Dublin sites just outside Blanchardstown and Grange Castle. It was a nightmare, constantly double and triple jobbing because they are very unorganised and then when the poo hits the fan they look to blame someone else. This is the game, pass the blame and it can't fall on management. They are based in the U.K and so they feel as if they have to micromanage your entire day, there is a morning meeting to discuss the days activities but as usual 99% of the information is missing and you have to constantly chase people for information. You have many people harassing you via IM all day looking for updates and information and it's difficult to work and then people are complaining that you are not available via im, no, because you're up ladders running cables or working on server installations etc. You could be given xx amount of servers to install and the build documents will be missing 50% or more of the information such as the port allocations on the switches , or switch ports won't have been configured so when you finish installing this project someone will be harassing you via IM while in the middle of your next project to go back and finish the previous one, this is the way you have to work daily and it's quite frustrating. You could be given break fix tasks in the middle of project work. There is no proper ticketing system and no logistics system and most things are done via email and emails are deleted in 30 days so when stuff is delivered to site you have very limited space to store it and stuff goes missing and you could be asked may months later where this is and where that is but you don't know because there is no system to record anything so you have people from different departments delivering stuff to site and then months later looking for it to be installed and we have to go looking for it as we're not even told it's been delivered or to watch out for such deliveries because bet365 only have suites in these data centers so the data center staff take in the deliveries and store them wherever they want. On another site they will not allow deliveries on site without an inbound shipping ticket and half the time they don't ave this and deliveries get rejected and so you have to deal with so much of this nonsense daily on top of project work and it is very frustrating. When you install servers you could be then tasked with uplifting ram, this means going back to 50 or more servers and uncabling, removing the lids, taking out existing ram and installing new ram, often this is not available at the time of installation usually due to poor management so you have to double job and triple job all the time, there something that needs to be added at a later date and again, you got other project work on at the time so you never feel as if you complete any project. On the fly work, you could at a moments notice be told at 3pm that you have to take out anything from 5-50 servers including rails and have them available for collection for delivery to another site, this is very difficult to deal with, someone forgot about something but it falls back on you all the time. There is a blame culture, and people or often fond of not doing work knowing someone else will have to pick up the slack because they might not be on site the next day so they drag their heals for the day, they are sent to help but cause more frustration. I was bullied by a colleague who got promoted twice and the company did nothing but promote him, give him full use of a van, This individual would call me names and humiliate me constantly in front of other data centre staff who weren't even bet365 employees, I was constantly doing his work and while on probation could do nothing about it, then after probation he expected this to continue, he'd be sitting down while I was breaking my back then telling the bosses he was doing most of the work, then bad mouthing me to management and to other site staff behind my back to make him look good. I was frequently made travel to the furthest site from my home by the bully who was now my lead because he could do it knowing it was a huge inconvenience to me, he got a buzz out of making my life hell and one time I had an argument with management about start and finish times because if home is my office why is travel time not accounted for ? so then I looked at my contract and discovered that stated home is my normal place of work because they had no office space and no place for us to work outside of the noisy hot data center suite. I then looked for mileage to travel from home to sites and back and I was given absolutely no help only told that I can't be paid for travel from home as no one is paid to travel to work and I explained what the contract said but they stuck to this because they knew I would be owed a lot of money, I was then given site access logs and told to figure out all these sign in and sigh out logs from the different sites knowing I would not be able to do this so I had to hire an accountant but in the meantime I got fired. I got fired for an IM conversation I had sent to this bully out of frustration about the way I was being treated and he forward it to management and from the time I sought to claim all the owed mileage to getting fired was around 2 months. There's no way things couldn't have been worked out but they thought they could get out of paying me thousands in mileage and it literally was many thousands of euros and they used any excuse to fire me to get out of paying any future mileage. The accounting firm processed all the details for a fee and the company only paid up when I went the legal route. Bet365 have been known not to want to pay people for winning bets so it's no surprise that they chose to treat me in such a disgraceful manner. This, after all, is a company who's success is built on the destruction of other people's lives and countless families. I tell you, it wasn't a nice experience working for bet365 and I hope this warns people to stay well away from this company. This was around a year ago, this is my 2nd review, I deleted the other because it showed up as all one paragraph that was hard to read.
