Not Sure They Even Distribute the Magazines in Some Markets - Photographer Z Code Magazines Employee Review

Pros

Good place to start if you need to develop your portfolio with tear sheets but that's about it. I wouldn't do it for more than a few issues.

Cons

You won't get much exposure if you're writing or photographing; I highly doubt they even distribute the magazine in certain areas. I did a poll on the app NextDoor and 95% of those in my neighborhood have never received the magazine. They can't even send their freelancers copies of the magazines.

Pros

Good, small company! Everyone is a joy to work with. Very casual working environment and everyone seems to have the same goal of making the company a better place to work in. Flexible time and very approachable people. Good work/life balance.

Cons

Company feels like it grows too big, too fast. Easy enough to make suggestions to certain processes but challenging to convince of effectiveness because most people seem to have that "we've been doing this for years" attitude.

Pros

Fun working for a local community business. Fairly flexible hours and schedule. The magazines are admired by most people who are familiar with them.

Cons

Out of date practices, no new initiatives, not open to new ideas or feedback. The owners are nice but procrastinate on everything. They over promise and under deliver in all areas. The general policy is whatever benefits the company, never the employees or customers. Extremely low pay. No incentive to work hard here which burns employees out. High turnover rate in all departments.
