Pros

Fun working for a local community business. Fairly flexible hours and schedule. The magazines are admired by most people who are familiar with them.

Cons

Out of date practices, no new initiatives, not open to new ideas or feedback. The owners are nice but procrastinate on everything. They over promise and under deliver in all areas. The general policy is whatever benefits the company, never the employees or customers. Extremely low pay. No incentive to work hard here which burns employees out. High turnover rate in all departments.

Could be a great company, but...

Pros

Owners are really nice. It's a laid back place to work.

Cons

Too many moving parts. This creates a lot of confusion and stress. No set training structure. Not much support. Pay is low.

Not the best experience

Pros

-Experience - Whether you're working in graphics or editorial you're given the opportunity to see how to create a magazine from beginning to end (full production) -Vibe - Owner is pretty positive and easy-going -Hours - The hours are fair although sometimes you have to stay later to make edits during final print cycle

Cons

-Management - Poor. I felt micro-managed too often -Pay - Incredibly low and pretty unfair in my opinion especially after working for various magazine and publishing companies after this job -Lack of Mobility
