Pros

I've been with the company almost two years. I really like my job, my team, abd the work I do. I am nicely compensated. We have monthly site leader meetings that offer good food and swag. We get great swag here!

Cons

Too much energy about watching attendance - first the focus was on the number of days in the office, then number of hours in the office. Total big brother watching our every move. And yet they expect me to take early morning and late evening meetings. And still be in the office for 8 hours. So then I have to work a 12 hour day to fit it all in. It’s inflexible. All senior leaders barricaded on the top floor in the white tower. They only come out for all-hands meetings. They say they offer a flexible time off policy but recently revised it to say time off now includes sick time and will be scrutinized if it’s over 20 days a year. This sends the message that it isn’t really flexible. Variable pay changes – my bonus opportunity base is now locked forever to what I made in 2024 (for new employees, it’s lock on what you make when you start). Only way to get a higher bonus is a promotion or get Exceeds on annual performance ratings – which is capped to top 5% of employees. Seems like they are always looking for ways to be cheap. Company phones no longer provided yet you want me connected. If I want to check email on my personal phone, I have to put WU security policies on my phone which limit what I can do on my own phone – copy an address into another app, like a map or navigation app; access my own OneDrive. Makes it hard to justify it. More cheap policies - you charge me if I use WU benefits if my spouse also has a benefits program. (Not to mention the US Medical offering isn’t very helpful, high premiums and copays.) Not eligible for recognition if above a certain level – sure it’s supposed to come from performance in the form of compensation but it doesn’t seem to happen. The people who do a fraction of the work get recognized because they are eligible to participate in the program and the people doing all the work don’t get recognized because they are too high a level. There is no fun here – no team lunches, no team events, no team building activities. Just meetings, volunteer events, or training. (Exceptions are if someone throws a party, like a going-away party or a baby shower.)

Pros

Very exciting times at Western Union with the pending acquisition of Intermex and a lot of the announcements around wallets and digital assets

Cons

The international offices seem to do a good job around cultural and office events while the US seems to lack this in some areas.

Understand that traditional remittances are dying

Cons

Not enough resources available to drive transformation. Legacy tech. Outdated systems, processes. Too much work expected per employee.
