Pros

The pay is good in comparison to others in the business. Benefits were decent before the changes came. If you are in a good store the employees make your day go by a little faster.

Cons

It used to be a pro promotion company. The changes that have been implemented are detrimental to Walgreens. They have now decided that we (MGT'S) are not good enough to be paid our salaries and are comparing us to anyone off the streets. I personally have not been with the company for a long time, but I truly feel for those who spent years trying to make it to the top and now are being knocked down with no recognition. It has become a thankless job where they expect you to work more with less resources and less pay. They are promising that if you are good enough you will be promoted. Fact or fiction? I think fiction, they are not opening new stores, so where are the opportunities? It is a ploy to get us to work harder in the hopes of a pay off. Well I am sorry to inform you that it is fiction. They expect us to work just as hard as before for less pay. They are looking for any reason to fire us or make us quit. How are we supposed to support our families, especially in this economy, with $13/hour? Mr. Wasson maybe you should dig into your millions and give us our pay back. The threats keep rolling in and the morale is totally destroyed. "If you dont sell this you're gone, if you don't finish these 20 notes before you leave, you're gone." It is getting ridiculous. Has anyone realised that PPL that tells us how to deal with a "postal" ex-employee. The fact that the company feels that we should go through this training says a lot. They are scared of a terrible reaction, well maybe you should reconsider what you are putting people through. VALUE YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!!! We break our backs everyday to get re-paid this way. Sad is all I can say, very sad. Wise up corporate because you are making decisions that are running this company and this economy into the ground. We are people that need our salary to try and make it in this rough economy. So take a minute from your private jet, your mansions or your private chef and care about us. The sad part is I know that you won't. Store managers quit being puppets and understand and sympathize with us. Just one more thing. The "key holders" that you are replacing us with are going to steal all day everyday and not care as much as we did. Sad very sad. The fact that you call us "glorified stock people" is disgusting. This has come out of my store managers mouth. Good luck, you're going to need it.

Pros

Can be a fun environment. All in whom your staff is. Operating photo was fun and building projects for the customers. Learning about pharmacy operations.

Cons

Work life balance and low pay for what is expected. Not having enough payroll to effectively run a store. My store ran FE on a 320 hour a week budget. That was barely enough to get buy and meet the expectations put out by the company. I was never able to keep a full leadership staff. When a leader called out, I had to stay. There were days I was called away from my own dinner table. SM's were forced to be in the pharmacy for more than half of their day regardless as to what is happening in the FE. I worked over 50 hours a week and barely got to spend time with my family. If I wasn't at the store I was getting a phone call and having to go back to the store.
